Spiritual traditions are the fabric of Indian life, and there is no better way to experience the culture of India than to visit its sacred sites. On this tour of India, you will journey through a diverse cross-section of India, both geographically and spiritually, from the Himalayas to Rajasthan. You will visit North India’s most revered historic cities, enjoying striking architecture, astonishing landscapes and authentic interactions with pilgrims and holy people. Immerse yourself in the spiritual culture of India with visits to Dharamsala (home of the Dalai Lama), the holy Ganges in Rishikesh (the origin of yoga) and Varanasi, and Amritsar. Marvel at the exquiste Taj Mahal during sunrise and sunset visits, including a full-moon viewing.  Chant and meditate with monks, and practice yoga if you wish.

Day 1-3: Meet in Delhi
Tour Old and New Delhi. Visit textiles bazaar. Optional yoga class.

Day 4-5: Dharamsala
Stroll the town seeing the prayer wheels, bazaars, nunnery. Early morning meditation walk around Namgyal Monastery (Dalai Lama's monastery) with the locals.

Day 6-7: Taragarh
Excursion to the Norbulinka Institute. Attend chanting service with the Grammy winning monks at Sherabilling Monastery.

Day 8: Amritsar
Marvel at the glorious Golden Temple of the Sikhs and tour the immense complex. Participate as a volunteer in the kitchen if you like.

Day 9-11: Haridwar - Rishikesh 
Participate in Homa, a sacred fire ceremony performed by a Hindu priest according to the Vedic scriptures.  Attend chanting, meditation and yoga classes. Walking tour of Rishikesh. Attend aarti (ceremony of lights) at the Ganges. Soar up the hill via a ropeway to Neel Parvat Temple, dedicated to Goddess Chandi Devi (Durga) and observe women performing devotionals.

Day 12-14: Varanasi
Celebrate Dussehra Festival. Tour the Ganges in a country boat at sunrise. Visit Sarnath, where Buddha gave his first sermon.

Day 15: Khajuraho
Vsit Classical Temples from Chandella period, 9th- 11th century, illustrated with remarkable sculptures of the erotic literature, the Kama Sutra.

Day 16-17: Agra - Mathura - Vrindavan
Sunrise visit to the Taj Mahal and Agra Fort. Excursion to Mathura, birthplace of Krishna, and Vrindavan, where Krishna spent his childhood. Return to Taj for full moon viewing.

Day 18: Fatephur Sikri - Jaipur
Vsit the fascinating deserted city of Fatephur Sikri. Enjoy the pink city of Jaipur with its marvelous palaces, temples, fantastic bazaars. Attend sunset puja at Sri Govinda Deva Temple.

Day 19: Delhi-Depart
Return to Delhi. Farewell dinner. Transfer to airport for flight home.
