Discover hidden treasures on this insider’s journey exploring Burmese art, architecture and the gentle graciousness of its culture.  Many people travel to Burma to see the stunning Buddhist monasteries and temples.  In addition, we will get to know the people of Burma.  In Mandalay, we’ll tour the walled city built in the 19th century along with many ancient monasteries and nunneries. Bagan, the country's premier art site, is a temple city of over two thousand brick temples and stupas, built between the 11-13th century. Our travel in Burma includes a relaxing excursion to beautiful Mt. Popa, a mountain sacred to Burma's indigenous spirits called 'Nats'. Our fall tour includes a visit to Pindaya Caves to view over 9000 Buddha images from the 18th century.  The journey culminates with two days exploring the tribal area of Inle Lake where people live in thatched cottages on stilts in the middle of the lake. We will enjoy a stay at a fabulous resort in individual cottages on the lake.  The February tour offers an optional adventurous extension to Mrauk U tribal tatoo villages and the fishing town of Sittwe. We are proud to be working with a private, women-owned, local company.
