Journey back in time and take an epic Silk Road tour across Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikstan and Turkmenistan. You'll not only visit the fascinating cultural highlights of the Five Stans, you'll also venture off the usual tourist circuit for insight into rural lifestyles in sleepy provincial towns and quaint villages. This Silk Road tour includes a wonderful mix of monuments, museums, mosques, ancient ruins, traditional bazaars, music and dance programs, as well as pristine natural beauty such as mountains, canyons, lakes, rivers and parks.  We have ample time to immerse ourselves at a nice easy pace.

Day 1-4: Meet in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan
Full tour of Ashgabad and excursion to visit Old Merv ruins and local museum.

Day 5-6: Kiva, Uzbekistan
Visit the oldest part of the city including the fortress and madrassas.

Day 7-9: Bukhara-Shakhrisabz, Uzbekistan
Visit the historic sites including medrassas, mosques, and mausoleums. Stroll bazaars and enjoy a folkshow.

Day 10-12: Samarkand, Uzbekistan
Admire the stunningly-tiled, medieval architectural wonder of the Registan, visit functioning mosques, browse local bazaars.

Day 13-14: Tashkent, Uzbekistan
In-depth exploration of Tashkent.

Day 15: Termez-Dushanbe, Tajkistan
See the influences of Greek, Buddhist & Islamic civilizations in Termez architecture.

Day 16-17: Kojand-Istarafshan, Tajikstan
Visit pottery village of Rishtan. Tour Kojand & Istarafshan. Stop at beautiful Lake Iskander Kol.

Day 18: Fergana-Tashkent, Uzbekistan
Tour Fergana and Margilan.

Day 19: Osh, Uzbekistan
Relish the beauty of Osh, one of the oldest towns in Central Asia, nestled in green slopes on the edge of the Fergana Valley at the foot of the Pamir-Alai mountain range.

Day 20-23 Bishkek - Cholpon - Alta - Villages, Kyrgyzstan
Explore the ancient city and admire its unique architectural masterpieces.Exlore Bishkek,the capital of Kyrgyz Republic, located where the Kazakh steppe meets the foothills of the majestic snow-capped Tien-Shan mountains. Visit petroglyphs in Cholpon-Ata, a large open-air collection of rock carvings dating from 2000 BC to 7th century AD.

Enjoy Karakol, a sleepy provincial town with Russian flavor and Tamga village on the south shore of Lake Issyk Kul.

Day 24-25: Almaty - Merv, Turkmenistan
Visit Almaty, the former capital of Kazakhstan, including the Central State Museum, Panfilov Park, and Zenkov Cathedral (one of the tallest wooden-made buildings).

Day 26 Depart Almaty early morning
