The Thimphu Drubchen Tsechu (one of the grandest festivals in Bhutan), the Wangdue and Gangtey Tsechus, Tamshing Phala Choepa and Bumthang’s unique Tangbi Mani Festival all located in small villages where lifestyles and traditions have remain unchanged throughout the centuries.  This is an exciting opportunity to really become immersed in the true Bhutanese culture during your visit.

Day 1: Arrival in Paro-Drive to Thimphu
Afternoon tour exploring the traditional city and visit the memorial Stupa.

Day 2: Thimphu
Attend Thimphu Tsechu (festival in Thimphu), as monks pray to their deities and dances are performed by both monks and secular people. Visit the Thimphu Dzong (an immense himilayan fortress with towering walls), the Memorial Chorten (built in 1974 to honour the 3rd King of Bhutan), the National Institute of Traditional Medicine, the Folk Heritage Museum and the School of Arts and Crafts as well as the bustling local bazaar.

Day 3: Wangdue
We drive over the Dochula Pass and visit the Chimi Lhakhang (the Chimi budhist monastery) built on the site blessed by the "divine Madman" Lama Drupka Kinley.  Pilgrims (especially women) seek the monastery to recieve a blessing to help them beget children.

Day 5: Trongsa - Bumthang
During a spectacular drive to Trongsa enjoy unspoilt natural scenery with many waterfalls alongside the climbing road.  We go directly to attend the Tamshing Phala Choepa Festival. Watch the Monks of Tamshing temple dance in various traditional cham dance costumes such as the "black-hat" masks.

Day 6-7: Bumthang
Starting with Attending the Tangbi Mani festival at Tangbi Lhakhang (the Tangbi buddhist monastery), our small group guided tour then visits the many other rich cultural sites of Bumthang.

Day 8: Punahka
Our guided group tours' route crosses Pelela Pass (elevation 11,150 feet) and passes the picturesque village of Rukubji, surrounded by fields of wheat and barley. We drop into the town of Trongsa for lunch and visit Trongsa Dzong (a particularly impressive example of Bhutanese historical architecture this fortress is highly significant to Bhutan's monarchy), before the tour continues to the town of Punakha.

Day 9: Punahka-Paro
The tour then visits the Punakha Dzong (Fortress) before heading to Paro for an Afternoon guided tour of this bustling town.

Day 10: Paro
While still in Paro, with the help of our informative local guide, visit revered monasteries, chortens and the Paro Dzong which houses the National Museum.  The day includes an optional hike to Taktsang Monastery for the adventurous.

Day 11: Fly to Kathmandu
In Kathmandu our small group tour visits the ancient religious complex of Swayambunath and the UNESCO listed world heritage site Durbar Square with its courtyards, terraces and the palaces of the Malla and Shah kings.

Day 12: Depart
